Go Girls!
Healthy bodies, healthy minds
Go Girls! is a mentoring program designed to encourage participation in physical activity, healthy eating choices, and the development of a positive self-image, among girls ages 12 to 14. A seven–session program, led by female mentors, Go Girls! incorporates fun, educational games and activities to stimulate mentor/participant relationship-building as well as self-reflection and group discussions about healthy living.
The goals of the Go Girls program is to provide girls and young women with information and support to make informed choices about healthy, active living while maintaining sensitivity toward the emotional, social and cultural issues they may face. Specifically, the project addresses the issues of physical activity, balanced eating and positive self-image for youth participants between the ages of 12 and 14 through mentoring relationships.
This is a group program matching 2 leaders with 8 to 10 girls. For more information regarding the program or for volunteer opportunities please contact Ashley at ashley.dunbabin@bigbrothersbigsisters.ca or 905 735 0570 ext 222.
